Founder's Blazer Story

The Journey that Led to the Blazer

I wanted to offer a natural yet animal-friendly alternative that would be more comfortable than any animal-fibre garment.

All of this started when I decided to create a blazer that I wasn't able to find for myself, because I was inspired by the idea of wearing an effortless blazer for leisure activities and day-to-day moments, not just formal events. The turning point on my design journey was learning how cruel the practices of obtaining animal fabrics are to these animals, causing them extreme suffering and ultimately death.
These are fabrics like wool, cashmere, alpaca fleece, angora, and silk and they are often used in tailoring and luxury goods. Most of us aren't even aware that these seemingly innocent fibres cause animals harm. You can find resouces documenting these practices on PETA and see for yourself.

That is why I wanted to offer a natural yet animal-friendly alternative that would be more comfortable than any animal-fibre garment. To do this, I obsessed over all blazer features. For example I wanted to make it wide-shoulder and curves-friendly, but I also wanted to make sure it had a comfortable lining so that you could wear the blazer every day and feel comfortable in it.

A bit about my background
My textile crafts heritage dates back generations as many members of my family were in one way or another involved in the textile industry. Maybe this is the reason that since I can remember I've wanted to be a fashion designer myself.

This led me to Edinburgh College of Art for undergraduate studies and London College of Fashion for postgraduate studies. I also took fashion courses at Donghua University in Shanghai, Central Saint Martins in London and Parsons in New York City. During this time I went on a sustainability related trip to India, where I discovered the wonderful properties of hemp fabric.
